We heard great things about the new Italian restaurant in downtown Waxhaw, Capricci’s True Italian. Well worth the drive a little farther down south!
A little more about Capricci’s True Italian:
Family-owned
Owner and Chef, Ted Cook, owned a restaurant in the same space 20 years ago
Ted opened Capricci’s 4.5 months ago
New featured dishes every night
Menu offers wide variety of small plates, salads, pastas, brick oven pizza and entrees containing seafood, beef and chicken
Weekly food and drink specials
Great selection of liquor drinks, beers and wines
We enjoyed a family date night on Wednesday to take advantage of their Date Night Special:
$45 per couple
2 glasses of prosecco
Shared salad
2 entrees
Shared dessert
Start your meal with fresh, warm bread that is brought to the table. Dip it in olive oil or my personal favorite Mary’s sauce which is Ted’s grandmothers recipe. So yummy!
For the shared salad we chose the Capricci salad- crisp bacon and Gorgonzola cheese in a flavorful raspberry vinaigrette dressing. One of the best salads we have had in a long time!
For starters we added the Sautéed Shrimp with garlic and white wine served over a bed of pastini. Yum!
So many delicious entree options but we went with the special features:
Filet and mushrooms in a brown cognac sauce over a bed of risotto. Served with Brussel sprouts and crispy bacon that gave it the perfect crunch and taste. The meat was so tender and every bite was heaven with that cognac sauce!
Jumbo Sea Scallops in a white wine and butter sauce and served over linguini. Didn’t have much room left after devouring all the previous plates but one bite of this and we knew there would be no leftovers. Scallops were possibly the best I’ve ever tasted!
Tasty dessert selections. We tried one of each! They were all delicious but the tiramisu was amazing!
Ted, along with the entire staff, treat you like family! We are looking forward to our next experience!!
