Celebrating its 18th year, the Charlotte Film Festival 2026 returns September 22–27, 2026 at the Independent Picture House. The festival showcases the best in independent cinema, bringing together filmmakers and audiences to experience innovative storytelling from across the globe. From narrative features and documentaries to animated shorts and student films, attendees can discover a diverse range of voices, perspectives, and creative visions. Many screenings feature filmmaker Q&As, panel discussions, and opportunities for meaningful engagement with the artists behind the work.
For nearly two decades, the festival has remained committed to its mission: “DISCOVER DIFFERENT”—championing bold, original, and thought-provoking films while fostering a vibrant community of film lovers, creators, and industry professionals. Hosted at the Independent Picture House, Charlotte’s home for independent film, the festival continues to be one of the region’s premier celebrations of cinema and creative culture.
